Electronic security: generative AI and the cloud are reshaping the future

Protectas Technology, the Swiss subsidiary of Securitas Technology, unveils its 8th Global Technology Trends Report. The 2026 edition highlights the major dynamics that will transform electronic security over the next 18 months. Three key trends emerge: the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the widespread adoption of the Cloud, and the growing integration of advanced sensors.

Already adopted by 70% of the organizations surveyed, AI is establishing itself as a pillar of security systems. It is used for object recognition, intrusion detection, people counting, and abnormal behavior analysis. Generative AI (GenAI), meanwhile, is ushering in a new era: 51% of companies say they are ready to use it for automated threat detection, 47% for report generation, and 42% for video search.

The cloud is also becoming an essential standard. Today, 18% of organizations use entirely cloud-based security solutions, and 34% plan to make the switch within the next five years. The advantages are clear: simplified maintenance, centralized management, reduced costs, and increased efficiency. Video surveillance (68%), access control (64%), and intrusion detection (30%) are among the most common uses.

Finally, the integration of next-generation sensors enhances system performance in an increasingly interconnected environment. By combining GenIA, the cloud, and smart sensors, companies can now analyze data in real time, refine their decision-making, and strengthen their overall security.

« GenIA ushers in a new era for video content exploitation. Combined with the power of the cloud, it enables detailed, centralized analysis while reducing costs. », concludes Benjamin Chassot, General Manager of Protectas Technology in Switzerland.
